In today’s age, robotics and automation are trending across different branches of the manufacturing industry. Innovative new processes now allow humans and machines to collaborate and work together to create high quality products. This new connectivity is taking Industry 4.0 to the next level. It is in this background that Hannover Messe 2018 has chosen ‘Integrated Industry – Connect & Collaborate’ as its main theme. Being one of the world’s largest trade fairs for industrial technology, the show is expected to take place from April 23–27, 2018 at the Hannover Exhibition Grounds in Hannover, Germany. The event is also expected to attract 5,000 exhibitors, 220,000 visitors and more than 150 speakers.
In line with the theme of the show, more than 60 robotics companies, systems integrators and providers of gripper technology will be showcasing their Smart Factory solutions at the Robotics, Automation & Vision Application Park in Hall 17. This also includes the biggies of the sector such as ABB, Epson, Kawasaki, Kuka, Mitsubishi, Schunk, Stäubli, Universal Robots, Franka Emika, Yaskawa, etc. Companies such as Asentics, MVTech and Hannover Messe first-timer Q.Vitec will also exhibit at the hall.
The ‘Vision’ section of this showcase is dedicated to industrial image processing, a technology that facilitates safe human-machine interaction and process efficiency in Industry 4.0 and smart factory applications. The companies exhibiting in this section include Asentics, Cognex, Stemmer Imaging and ISRA Vision. With live demos of diverse robotic and automated solutions, the pavilion will surely attract eyeballs at the show.
In addition to this, an Automation Forum is also expected to be held in Hall 14 which will feature strongly on topics relating to robotics, automation and industrial image processing. The forum lectures will have a dual focus on R&D and in-factory applications and hence, there will be plenty of interest for visitors from all backgrounds.
Robotics award 2018
One of the major highlights for the robotics industry is the Robotics Award for applied robotics solutions that is up for grabs once again. This is the 8th time that the organizers of Hannover Messe, Deutsche Messe AG have sponsored the award. Commercial enterprises and institutions in Germany and other countries whose products, projects or technologies have made an innovative contribution to robot-aided solutions in industrial automation, mobile robotics or autonomous systems can apply for this award.
The competition is also open to companies who are not registered as Hannover Messe exhibitors. The Award – which enjoys the support of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Employment and Transport of the German state of Lower Saxony – carries 10,000 euros of prize money. The award will be presented at a special press conference at Hannover Messe on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at 3:30 PM.
